2nd BOKSBURG (St MICHAEL'S) AND THE CHURCH

2nd Boksburg, has been affiliated with the Anglican Church of Boksburg since it started in 1916. Although some boys belong to both organisations, it is obviously not a prerequisite to join the group. This does not however preclude that 2nd Boksburg isn't dedicated to a higher being. 2nd Boksburg is fundamentally a Christian troop, however we do not dissuade anybody from any other religions. We have never really had any conflict in this matter, but don't think this would ever be a problem.

2nd Boksburg opens their meetings and any event with a prayer, and when camps go over a weekend, a Scouts Own is performed. A Scouts Own is a small service, where there are prayers, bible readings, a short talk, and hymns. The Scouters believe that this opens the scouts to a more balanced way of life, where you not only experience but also reflect upon ones experiences. 2ND Boksburg may in, the hopefully soon, future build a new den at Crows Nest, however at our opening we have named the chapel on the premises St Michael’s Chapel and it was blessed by the Parish priest.
