2^nd BOKSBURG (St MICHAEL'S) AND THE CHURCH

 2^nd Boksburg, has been affiliated with the Anglican Church of Boksburg since it started in 1916. Although some boys belong to both organisations, it is obviously not a prerequisite to join the group. This does not however preclude that 2^nd Boksburg isn't dedicated to a higher being. 2^nd Boksburg is fundamentally a Christian troop, however we do not dissuade anybody from any other religions. We have never really had any conflict in this matter, but don't think this would ever be a problem.

2^nd Boksburg opens their meetings and any event with a prayer, and when camps go over a weekend, a Scouts Own is performed. A Scouts Own is a small service, where there are prayers, bible readings, a short talk, and hymns. The Scouters believe that this opens the scouts to a more balanced way of life, where you not only experience but also reflect upon ones experiences. 2^ND Boksburg may in, the hopefully soon, future build a new den at Crows Nest, however at our opening we have named the chapel on the premises St Michael’s Chapel and it was blessed by the Parish priest.
